The Mauritius Cuckoo Shrike lives in dense forests and like to live alone or in pairs. Their diet consists of hairy caterpillars and other insects due to them being insectivores. They also rob nests of nearby birds and suck the eggs. Females lay two to three eggs, both parents help care for the young. Threats to this species include predation of rats on the eggs and habitat loss. The estimated population is less than three hundred.
