Scientific Name: Lasiorhinus Krefftii
Listed as Endangered in: Australia
The Norther Hairy-Nosed Wombat digs tunnel systems called "warrens" to live in. They are solitary animals and prefer to feed at night. Adults weigh up to eighty-eight pounds. Their diet consists of herbs and grasses. Females give birth to one young and that young stay with the mother for six months in her pouch. Threats to this species were hunting for their fur. Conservation measures underway are a captiving rearing facility, a long-term plan to establish a network of populations throughout the historic range, and introducing a second wild population due to most the species being protected in a National Park.
